who is acacia studios?

what’s in a name?

the acacia tree symbolizes many things, but the ones that grabbed us are: strength, rebirth and endurance.  we hope that all yogis that come to our studio build physical strength, find renewed energy and clarity and walk away with more endurance for life’s many challenges.

​what is power vinyasa yoga?

yoga comes in many different forms.  at acacia studios, we teach and promote the practice of power vinyasa yoga.

power vinyasa yoga is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting breath to movements. this type of yoga incorporates strength, flexibility, balance, cardio and physical and mental stamina in one session.  at acacia studios, we focus on the core in our classes, to build abdominal strength, literally the core of our practice.

vinyasa meaning, “flow” or “to move without resistance,” incorporates interval and cross-training exercises to challenge both the aerobic and anaerobic systems of the body. as your body adapts, it is important to vary the types, intensity and duration of the exercises.  power vinyasa yoga incorporates regular sequences that become familiar to students, but incorporates variations to modify, intensify, or challenge the body by altering the pace or duration of poses, and the frequency that they are repeated.

what’s our purpose?

as yoga instructors, we think a lot about how to make a class accessible to our students.  this could be in the way we get our students into a posture, offering modifications to accommodate injuries or to make postures more challenging or maintaining a flow that is comfortable, yet challenging.  at acacia studios, we want to make yoga accessible to all.  our goal is to spread our love of yoga by creating a dedicated space to yoga that can reach anybody, whether a seasoned yogi or a novice to the practice.

​we offer beginner’s and advanced classes at acacia studios.  beginner’s classes are designed to introduce the foundational postures to new students and set them up for success in graduating to more difficult postures and classes.  a beginner’s class is not, however, only for novice yogis.  these classes are designed to challenge even the advanced yogi and provide a space and time to refine and perfect the foundational postures which can only improve their overall practice.

​advanced classes take students through more advanced postures, deeper expressions of the postures, and faster, more challenging flows.

who is acacia studios?

acacia studios was founded by a husband and wife duo.  when they met, he had just retired from an athletic career and she introduced him to the benefits of yoga for his over-used and aching joints.  he was surprised by the challenge yoga offered (even for a professional athlete!) and she was happy as could be that he took to something she held so dear in her daily life.  years later, after fate was sealed, the couple decided to take a leap and share yoga with you.  and acacia studios was born.

at our studio, we consider everyone that walks through our door as people who are walking into our family.  karibu sana
